Tire inspection

Tire inspection
Tires depend on the depth of a good tread condition .

Tires should be checked at least once a month as the tread is checked at least once a month for excessive and uneven wear, the most accurate tread depth measurements are made using a simple tread depth meter .

Tires worn at this level will also have visible wear indicators (thin bald strips) that stretch from side to side across two or more parts of the tread.

Use a tire pressure gauge to make sure the tires are properly inflated and then fill the tires with air as needed. To check your pressure, remove the valve stem cap, press the dipstick head evenly against the valve stem, and apply constant pressure until the hissing sound stops. Remove the scale and read the pressure. Compare this with the recommended blowing pressure for your car. Always check your tires during cold weather (after sitting for at least 3 hours or before you drive one mile at a moderate speed). The compress does not bleed from a hot tire.

In addition to the tread depth and inflation pressure, you should also check your tires for any damage or conditions that warrant their replacement. Look at the tread and sidewalls for any cuts, dents, holes, bulges, bumps or cracks. If you see anything suspicious, hire a tire service specialist to take a closer look.

You also want to monitor the age of your tire. Depending on how much you drive the car every year, your tire tread may last for years but just because the tread is not worn out does not mean that your tires do not need to be replaced. Bridgestone, in accordance with industry standards, recommends that tires be removed from service no later than ten (10) years after the date of manufacture.
