Tire maintenance

There are many tire maintenance procedures that car repair professionals must perform because they require special tools and knowledge. However, understanding these procedures will help you feel more confident in dealing with a repair service provider.

Tire rotation – tire maintenance:

Tires on the front and rear of vehicles operate with different loads and perform different steering and braking functions, which leads to uneven wear patterns. To get the maximum life and performance from your tires, it is necessary to rotate your tires. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for mileage recommendations. Usually tires are rotated between 8000 and 11000 km. Common in high-performance cars are tires designed to rotate in a certain direction; they can only be rotated from front to back, and if different tire sizes are used on the front and rear axles, rotation will not be possible.

Balancing tires:

Properly balanced tires help reduce uneven wear and extend their life. When the tires are balanced, small weights are attached to the wheels to reduce the vibration of the tires and wheels during their rotation. Newly installed tires should be balanced, and then whenever vibration is observed. Balancing is also required when removing a tire from the wheel, for example to repair a puncture.

Wheel balancing:

Wheel alignment is the measurement of the position of the wheels compared to the specifications recommended by car manufacturers. Each vehicle has specific wheel alignment adjustment settings. If any alignment measurement falls outside the specified range, uneven tire wear may result, vehicle handling may be affected and fuel economy may be impaired.

Wheel alignment should be checked and adjusted when installing new tires, after which at any time unusual steering characteristics are observed. The wheels of the car are correctly aligned when the car goes on the road in a straight line without drifting or drifting to any side. Drift or drag can be caused by problems other than alignment only, so a thorough inspection by a qualified store should be carried out to determine the exact nature of the problem before alignment is performed.

Spending a few minutes with your tires every month can help protect your family, improve the performance of your vehicle, and extend the life of your tires.
